About this Archive

Friends of Jade was an online community for people who love jade — carvers, collectors, geologists, miners and enthusiasts. From 2006 to 2017 its website published well over a hundred articles on nephrite and jadeite: where jade is found, how it forms, how it has been carved and valued across cultures, and what was happening in the jade markets of China, Canada, the United States and beyond. Some of the articles reprinted material going back to the 1990s, including the early Friends of Jade bulletins.

When the original site went offline in 2018 its pages survived only as scattered snapshots in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. This site rebuilds that library from those snapshots, with permission from the original owner, so the material can be read and found again.

Article and page addresses match the originals, so old links and bookmarks still work. Where a photograph was never captured by the archive, a small grey note marks the spot.
